Rhinoplasty

It is the most common cosmetic surgery performed all over the world. Recently, it has evolved into a philosophy of addressing the nose not only aesthetically, but also replacing functional nose surgery. In this way, patients can have a nose that they desire and breathe more easily. In recent years, nose aesthetic techniques have changed a lot of positive aspects and more natural results have begun to be obtained. The most important concept in Nose Aesthetics is naturalness and continuity of the result in the long term.

What Kind of Nose Befits Me?

Patients often ask this question and think too much about it. In this context, he tries to reconcile his photographs with others. The best answer to this question is a nose in itself and in proportion to the other parts of your face. What you like in other patients may not suit your face at all. Recently, simulations before nose operations are used. It is not realistic and possible to obtain exactly the result of the nose simulation. Because the patient’s healing factors, tissue characteristics and edema always vary. The aim is to roughly understand and explain what patients want and the shape of the nose that you medically recommend and can do as a surgeon.

Nose Aesthetics Techniques

There are two techniques, open and closed. The technique by which the patient can be operated depends on both the personal habits of the surgeon and the surgical procedure to be planned in the patient. In the open technique, surgery is performed with an incision made from the tissue that connects the tip of the nose and the lip. In the closed technique, incisions are made through the nostrils.

Operation

It takes 1-1.5 hours on average and is performed under general anesthesia. Both the external aesthetics of the nose and the intraperitoneal intervention are performed simultaneously and the patient tries to provide a more comfortable breathing. Plastic nose plaster is placed at the end of the operation. Depending on the situation, a silicone tampon is inserted into the nose.

Post-Op Operation

A significant portion of the final shape of the nose becomes prominent within an average of 1 month postoperatively. But it takes about 6 months to complete this process. Patients with thicker skin may need to wait for even 1 year.

What are the risks?

Bleeding: Temporary swelling and bruising Dark discoloration in custody: Especially in dark-skinned patients, they should avoid silver during the period of bruising after surgery. Otherwise, post-operative bruises may heal with permanent staining on the skin. Curvature regulation: Especially in patients with congenital curvature due to cartilage memory may be distorted as before the first month after surgery. Although this does not necessarily mean that it will happen, it should be kept in mind that even if there is distortion, it may be more minimal than its former condition. Asymmetry: There may be asymmetries due to interference with bone structure or structural size differences. Minimal asymmetries can be corrected with fillings, and surgery may be necessary for more specific asymmetries. Irregularity of the nasal ridge: In patients with thin nasal skin may occur after intervention in the neighbor belt. Can be corrected by filling. Nasal Depression: After all nasal surgery, both edema disappeared in the long term and collapse of the nasal aorta due to melting of the cartilage of the nose may occur. It may need to be corrected by a secondary surgery.
